We were one of the few lucky ones to be able to attend the première of the musical Les Misérable yesterday in Carré theater, Amsterdam.
The scene
The red carpet was rolled out for the many famous of the Netherlands. The historic chic theatre building is well maintained, and really is the perfect place to host such an event. The dress code was black tie. The reception room upstairs was soon filled with men in smoking and women dressed up in beautiful long elegant and chic gowns; blue, red, black, green, yellow, pink…, one more beautiful than the other. Big applause for the Carré organisation that day. The reception was splendid, there was plenty of drinks, even bubbles and bites.
Seats
We were also one of the few lucky ones to have our seats in one of the loge (7) with the best view of the stage. We can recommend these seats.
Performance
The musical is a success! We were amazed by the décor and how it was used to show movements during the show. The actors were great as well, their voices… I felt very emotional by three of the actors; Milan Waardenburg as Jean Valjean, Freek Bartels as Javert and Vajèn van den Bosch as Eponine. They took the show to almost the same emotional level as Hugh Jackman and Russel Crowe in the 2012 movie Les Misérable.
If you have the chance, go and get the tickets!
